Hail on August 11, 2004 width= Aug. 11, 2004 - -
We just had one of the worst thunderstorms with the largest hail that I have seen. The max. wind hit 50 mph at 1606 from the west. Quarter size hail started around 1610 and was followed by about one or two minutes (1616 to 1618) of very large hail. I collected hail stones that were as large as 3.0 inches by 2.5 inches. No, they were NOT spherical. The storm was over by 1620. It did put some small dents in our car top. We are lucky it wasn't much of the large hail and it didn't last long. Total rainfall from storm was 0.93 inches and we had 0.38 inches in 5 minutes. Max. rain rate was 11.08 inches per hr. at 1607 hrs. (Lasting less than one minute at this rate but a new record rate on Davis Vantage Pro)
