Remarks for the Time Period
1048 hrs.    T   T   38.1   First observed snow flurry started and the snow is melting as it falls.
1300 hrs.   T  T  36.6  Still very light snow flurries that are melting as they fall. Still not enough melted precipitation for 0.01 inch. But snowfall has increased in the past 10 minutes.
1430 hrs.   0.7  0.08  32.8  These obs. were taken at 1430 and posted at 1445. The tripping bucket amount isn't correct at this reading as there is snow in the funnel that hasn't melted. The 0.08 inches liquid here is correct and is taken by melting the snow in a 4-inch rain gauge. The temperature has dropped 5.3°F since 1300 and the grass and roofs are white but no snow on the street yet.
1530 hrs.   1.7  0.18  32.6  The snow is now sticking to the street and is now white with snow. The snow rate was one inch an hour this past hour and all surfaces are now white with snow. The temperature has also dropped another 0.1°F this past hour.
1630 hrs.   2.3  0.28  32.9  Snowfall intensity was less this past hour and was rated moderate. The street isn't as white this hours as it has become slush. The snow is sticking to trees and the weight is staring to bend the branches of pine trees.
1730 hrs.   2.3  0.29  33.4  No additional accumulation this hour as the snow rate was light and the melting was the same as the added snow. The street is black again as the heat of the ground has done much melting and the street now has only a little slush on it.
1830 hrs.   2.2  0.30  33.7  The radar shows our station is now very near the back edge of the snow and the current light flurries has ended. Snow is melting faster than the accumulation rate this past hour. The temperatures are high enough that any light snow will melt faster than it accumulated. This will be the last observation except for the liquid measurement and liquid equivalent.
1930 hrs.     0.36  34.0   The maximum snow amount was 2.3 inches from 1630 to 1730 hours. Snow melted in the 8-inch rain gauge gave 0.36 inches so the snow to liquid equivalent was 6.4 to 1
