 No  The first frozen precip. of the winter in the form of mixed rain and sleet. This occurred with a temp. 35.4 to 35.6 degrees F and melted pretty much on contact with surfaces.

 No  Mixed sleet and rain started at 11:55 AM with a temperature of 39.5 degrees F. The max. accumulation was around 12:20 PM then the sleet decreased for about 10 minutes from 1230 to 1240. From 12:40 until 12:55 PM a lighter period of sleet ending around 12:55 PM. There was never enough sleet to measure.
 3  Jan.  03  5.1 Storm 1 Yes  The storm started as rain at 0035 and approx. 0.55 inches of liquid before the sleet & snow started. It was back and forth rain sleet and snow until 0920 when the precip turned to all snow at 0920. The wind hit 29 mph t0 818. The anemometer froze up around 1130 during the heaviest snow (1.6 inches per hr.) between 1100 & noon. It is believed to have caught the max. gust as winds were less in the PM. The power flickered 3 times during the day but the electric power stayed on. The snow ended at 1450 with a quick clearing from the WNW.

The sun and a deep blue sky from about 1515 to sunset made some beautiful photos.

 4  Jan.  07  T Event 3  No  Light rain started just before midnight and turned to light snow around 130. Very small snow pellets fell until about 3 AM and ended by 0315 with too little snow to measure. The forecast was for about 1 inch of snow but the DC area got 2 to 4 inches of snow.DC Snow Map
 5  Jan.  16  0.9 Event 4 Yes  Light snow started at 1010 and the wind blew some of the snow off the raise snowboard decreasing the amount seen in the movie. The forecast was for about 2-3 inches but the snow turned to sleet earlier than was thought then to sleet and rain and finally rain which was heavy around 2000. The max. glaze was 0.15 inches and the amount of sleet was around 0.2 inches and the total liquid precip. was 1.47 inches East Coastal Map.

 6  Jan.  20  0.8 Event 5  No  Rain started at 0733 and turned to mixed precip. at 1215 but didn't become all snow until 1325. The snowfall intensity was light except between 1615 and 1715 we had a period of moderate snowfall and had 0.4 inches in on hour. The total snow fall period was 5 hours and 10 mins.

 No  This was a very light snow trace (light snow flurries) from 2325 on the 21st to 0025 of the 22nd and Portsmouth had 4 inches and VA Beach was much heavier. Heavy snow on SE coast
 8  Jan  28  1.4 Storm 2  No  A light rain started at 1710 and turned to snow around 1830. The snowfall intensity was never greater than 0.4 inches per hour and was between 32.4 degrees F 32.9 degrees F during this time. The heaviest snow was from 2045 to 2100 and ended around midnight but flurries went on until 1AM of the 29th.

  9  Feb  13-14  T Event 6  No  Very little precip. and above freezing temps. gave a minor snow event that wasn't even measurable here. Feb. 14 is included as a surprise light snow flurry occurred at 0129 after it was below freezing giving the morning appearance of a heavy frost.
 10  Mar  12  1.9 Storm 3  No  Precipitation started as rain then sleet & rain at 0925 with a temp. of 35.8 degrees F. Light snow followed at 1050 then periods of frozen drizzle from 1138 to noon. Snow increased around 1400 but was of a moderate intensity by 1440 and then became heavy for about 20 t0 30 minutes. Even with the warm temperatures of yesterday our street was white with snow and slush was on Broad Street but by 1545 it had melted as the snow intensity had tapered and stopped by then.
