It was the coolest day here today since April 15, 2009 when it was 50 °F. 

The Richmond International Airport maximum today was 58 °F which was the lowest maximum temperature for the date since 1987 when it was 51°F. 

The 51 °F in 1987 is also the 112 year record low maximum temperature for October 12th. 



 OCTOBER 14, 2009   Cool Day  
  
Glen Allen - Springfield Park area maximum temperature today was 57°F. 

The Richmond International Airport maximum yesterday was 55°F which was the lowest maximum temperature for the date since 1977 when it was 52°F.



 OCTOBER 15, 2009   Chilly Damp Day  
  
Glen Allen - Springfield Park area maximum temperature today was 52°F. 

It was the coolest day here today since April 15, 2009 when it was 50°F. 

The Richmond International Airport maximum today was 54 °F which is the new 112 year record low maximum temperature for October 15th. 

The old record was 56 °F set in 1939 and 1937. This is also the anniversary of Hurricane Hazel in 1954 when winds gusted to 76 mph at the Richmond Airport.



 OCTOBER 16, 2009   Chilly Damp and Drizzly Day  
  
Glen Allen - Springfield Park area maximum temperature today was 47°F. 

It was the coolest day here today since March 15, 2009 when it was 46°F. 

The Richmond International Airport maximum today was  49°F  which is the new 112 year record low maximum  temperature for October 16th.

The old record low maximum for the 16th was 54°F set in 1940. 



 OCTOBER 17, 2009   Chilly Damp Day  
  
Glen Allen - Springfield Park area maximum temperature today was 48°F. 

The Richmond International Airport maximum today was  48°F  which is the new 112 year record low maximum  temperature for October 17th.

The old record low maximum for the 17th was 51°F set in 1976.   



 OCTOBER 18, 2009   Still Chilly but Not a Record for the Date 
  
Glen Allen - Springfield Park area maximum temperature today was 50°F. 

The Richmond International Airport maximum today was 50°F which is the lowest maximum temperature for October 18th since 1927 when it was 49°F. 

But I can't recall a period where three 112 year record LOW Maximum records were broken consecutively.

A NEW STATION DAILY RAINFALL RECORD was established today when 1.30" of rain fell in the West Cradock section (SE corner) Portsmouth. 

The previous record was 0.73" set in 1995. 
 
The high temperature today in West Cradock, Portsmouth of 62° at 3:14 PM TIED THE STATION MINIMUM MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORD for the date.  

The previous record was set in 1978.
